I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer located in Roanoke, Virginia. Welcome to my corner! My mission for my business is to document special memories that not only captures you for who you are, but also leaves you speechless. Through different seasons of my own life, I tend to hone in more on certain types of photography, but I truly love offering a wide variety of services and meeting you where you are in yours. A little more about me professionally; I started this business in February of 2019. Photography has been something I have been passionate about for many years. Some reasons being:

1. I was on the yearbook committee in high school, and one of my favorite roles was photo manager. I got to not only take photos, but also sort through and pick out what would be worthy of being placed in the yearbook. This strengthened my eye for a good photo! But talk about throwbacks, boy has the quality changed!

2. My dad had a nice camera when I was growing up, and I can remember having photoshoots on vacations with it, as well as in our front yard just for fun. My dad taught me a lot about cameras and their settings.

3. My Granny Hale, dad’s mom, was our memory capturer of the family. She wanted the candids and the photos that documented the specialness in whatever we were doing. When she passed away, I made a promise to myself that I would continue capturing memories for her. I am thankful for her giving me the desire and the extra courage to do the same as she did. Not only just for our family, but for all of you.

4. When I started my business in 2019, I had been helping photograph weddings with another fellow photographer. Naive that I could one day turn this into my career. It was just something I enjoyed deeply and loved the creative outlet, but God knew it had so much more purpose in my life. I would refer potential wedding clients to my friend often, and one day she suggested I consider taking some of them on myself. Her suggestion opened up a whole world for me. The life I have today.

After four years of graciously juggling two jobs, in December of 2022, I quit my job and officially made Lighthaven Photography my full time career. I have yet to announce this publicly, so you’re in on my news!

A little more about me personally;

I am married to my husband Holston, the one who fits my puzzle so well. My mom always said it would take a special person to be what I needed, and he has filled the role of being the best partner and supporter I could ever ask for. Here is our first photo together, only a little over two years ago but look at those babies:

Our love blossomed in the spring of 2021, after working together for nearly 3 years. We both believed God opened our eyes to one another at just the perfect time. Once we began, it wasn’t long until we were ready to spend the rest of our lives together.

Fast forward to October 2021, we got engaged in one of my favorite photo spots. He wanted it to be a place I could go back to often and have the special reminder. Using my wedding industry background, I kicked into high gear and planned our intimate weekday wedding in just a little over a month.

We got married on November 11 2021 at the beautiful Stoneleigh Estate in Southern VA. This was the perfect decision for us, and although I am sure it seemed crazy to some, we are so glad we followed our hearts and did the dang thing! We then enjoyed life together in marriage bliss with our two dogs Odin & Theo, and our cat Nala.

Fast forward to May of 2022, we found out we were expecting. Then soon after we found out we were having a baby BOY! I always had the gut feeling, and we were over the moon. We announced to the world in early July and anxiously awaited his arrival. We thought, “what will he look like” and “what will his personality be.” So many exciting unknowns. He was born just after Christmas, right before the end of the year, 9 days before his due date. We named him Ryder and he has been the biggest blessing in our lives these past almost six months.

I am so grateful that this business allows me to spend my days with Ryder watching him grow and develop, while also providing for my family and flourishing in my creative element all at the same time. With this business, I am able to work with people that I see time and time again, throughout their story, and I do not take capturing those milestones lightly.
